How to Fix Instagram Reels Not Working

Did you're having trouble accessing Reels on Instagram? Then scroll down and try out the fixes given in the article.

Instagram Reels debuted in 2019, rapidly becoming the app's fastest-growing feature globally, with nine out of ten users watching Reels daily.

However, its popularity does not guarantee that the feature is error-free, as it occasionally stops operating.

If you're having trouble uploading or watching Instagram Reels, we've outlined some strategies to get Instagram Reels working again.

How to Access and Check for Instagram Reels

First, go to another Instagram account and see if you can see their reels. If you can do it, you should have the option.

But when we try to open Instagram at places such as schools, colleges, or workplaces, we see an access prohibited message, indicating that Instagram is blocked in that location.

However, we can circumvent that ban by utilizing node unblocker and visiting that page by making Instagram unblocked.

You can watch reels under the Explore area. You could have missed the Instagram Reels symbol. Inside the app, you may find Instagram Reels in the following locations:

  • The Reels button should be next to the Search symbol on Instagram's home page. Swipe right across the Instagram feed.
  • Reels should be offered alongside Story.
  • Select the + sign. Reel should be one of the possible options.

Ways To Fix Instagram Reels Not Working

1. Check If Reels Are Available in Your Country

Before proceeding with the rest of the troubleshooting procedures, ensure that the feature is available in your country.

n this manner, you avoid attempting to solve a problem that does not exist.

If you need help determining whether the function is available in your country, see Instagram's help page for a list of countries where Reels advertisements are supported. Reels are available to users when these advertisements are supported.

If your current country isn't on the list, you can try using a Node unblocker to gain Reels for your Account, as long as you don't live in a place where node unblockers are prohibited.

2. Check Your Internet Connection

If you can't view Instagram Reels on your phone, your internet connection may be down, especially if you see the message: Couldn't refresh the feed.

You can try reconnecting to the network to see if this resolves the issue.

However, you may need better internet performance if many devices use the same network.

It may be worthwhile to reboot your router to check if this resolves your connectivity issues.

3. Clear the App's Cached Data

To provide a pleasant user experience, modern apps employ cached data.

However, if the cached data becomes corrupted, it will cause several issues, including Instagram Reels not operating.

To reactivate the app's feature, you must manually remove its cache data.

  • Navigate to the Settings menu on your phone.
  • Select Instagram from the Apps menu.
  • Open Storage and caching
  • Clear the cache > Clear Storage.

4. Instagram Should Be Updated to the Recent Version

Reels may not be working because you are using an outdated Instagram version.

To get the app's most recent version, head to the Apple Google Play or App Store Store, search for Insta and then click the Update button.

5. Log Out and Log Back In

If upgrading the app does not bring Reels back, you can sign out and log back into your Instagram account.

Launch Instagram and, in the bottom-right area, tap your profile icon.

Then, go to Settings and select Log Out. Now, use your credentials to log in and see if Instagram Reels is available.

6. Turn Off Instagram's Data Saver

Instagram includes a data saver feature that prevents content from loading ahead of time.

While it may reduce your data use, Instagram Reels will take longer to begin playing.

If you feel that the function is interfering with Reels playback, here's how to disable it on Android:

  • Tap the Settings button next to your account icon.
  • Navigate to Account> Mobile data usage.
  • Disable the toggle next to the Data saver.

The procedure is the same for iOS.

Go to Settings > Mobile Data > Mobile Data Options after tapping your profile symbol. Disable Low Data Mode there.

7. Reinstall the Instagram App

If you've tried every method suggested and still can't use Instagram Reels, you should reinstall the app especially if other functions have stopped working.

Whether you have an iOS or Android phone, reinstalling the app should restore it to regular operation.

8. Report It to Instagram

If none of the workarounds restored Instagram Reels functionality, you should contact Instagram Support directly.

  • Open Instagram and select the three-line menu option.
  • There, choose Settings and then Help.
  • Click the Report a Problem button. Click Report a problem once more in the popup menu.
  • Describe the issue in as much detail as possible. You may also include screenshots to help them understand the issue.
  • When you're finished with the Report, click Submit.

What to Do If Instagram Reels Sound Isn't Working

Most Instagram Reels are silent because the creator muted the audio, either as an aesthetic attempt to make their Instagram account stand out or because they prefer not to utilize sound.

If you scroll down to the following Reel and it has audio, there is nothing wrong with the app or your phone.

However, if you notice anything out of the ordinary, the tips we've provided should help you get Instagram Reels back up and running.

Our Thoughts

There are several reasons why Instagram Reels have stopped operating, and occasionally there is nothing you can do but wait.
